Washburne Jazz Ensemble and Lion Jazz Ensemble

Washburne Jazz Ensemble and Lion Jazz are open to all District 36 students who can pass a basic audition on a band instrument. Reading music and knowing basic technique are important entry requirements. There are two Jazz Bands in our school district. Anyone playing saxophone, trumpet, trombone, electric or string bass, piano, guitar, mallets, or drum set may audition. Students are placed in either the Jazz Ensemble or the Lion Jazz Band based on their ability. Students may be added to either band throughout the year based on the needs of the students or the needs of the bands.

If you would like to play in Jazz Band on Drum Set, Guitar, Bass, or Piano, we can direct you to some good teachers at NTHS and in the area so that you can audition for the separate group when you are ready.
